Getting to know Jade Dineen

Welcome to my story. Discover my journey into product design, my passion for CAD, and the problems I love to solve. I'm excited to share my work and invite you to explore the world of design through my eyes.

My journey into product design

My first real encounter with CAD was around the age of 16 or 17, during an engineering class project in school. It was designed to familiarise us with different software. Later, for our Leaving Cert, we had to design a drop tower, similar to those found at a funfair. Initially, I found the brief challenging, but as I progressed through the design process, I grew to love it. By the end, I had thoroughly enjoyed almost every aspect. I crafted my project using 3D printed PLA and added weight with a brass base plate. This project truly ignited my passion for CAD, as I could fully visualise the entire design before even constructing it.

Solving problems that matter

When I design, what's most important to me is creating solutions that have a real impact on people's lives, whether it's for medical reasons or simply to improve their quality of life. For example, helping someone who struggles to open bottles or jars, though not a medical emergency, is still incredibly important for daily independence. I aim to contribute positively to our daily lives by solving these kinds of practical problems through design.

Showcasing my passion and creations

Currently, I'm excited to showcase projects I've fully brought to life, such as my Leaving Cert engineering and construction projects – a drop tower – and a desk. I also have various CAD designs that demonstrate my technical skills. My goal is to convey my deep passion for CAD and highlight my ability to not only design objects but also to physically create them, demonstrating a complete understanding of the product development cycle.
